Dewdrops on Red Leaves

"I am a lover of textured art, hence most of my pictures have lots of it in them. I have added the dewdrops on the leaves with a clear gel."

Small photo of painting of surfers contemplating the next wave, Tofino BC
Contemplation

"I knew I just had to paint these surfers and it proved more challenging than I anticipated. They were added to the painting with layers of gel, painted with a matte finish."

Small photo of painting of 3 red leaves on tree over Lake Couchiching
3 Red Leaves

"This painting started as one in full colour like my others, however at the request of my son, who the painting was being created for, it became less colourful and more abstract. The room it was designated to had one red wall, hence the red leaves. It looks fabulous mounted on a black background and remains a favourite of mine."

Small picture of painting of melting Sawyer Glacier, Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska
Melting Glacier, Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska

"This painting was a true test of my ability to texturize a canvas. I actually completed it twice before I was fully satisfied with the effect I was trying to achieve."

The dimensions are 18" x 24" and this framed painting is for sale.(All paintings include the photograph, mounted and framed, from which it was derived.)
Small photo of painting of Sunrise over the Fraser Riiver, BC
Sunrise Over the Fraser River, BC

"This is one of only two paintings I have ever done without texturing my painting surface. Somehow with the silhouettes and the vivid colours it doesn't seem to be lacking that element."

The dimensions are 36" x 24" and this framed painting is for sale.(All paintings include the photograph, mounted and framed, from which it was derived.)
Small photo of painting of Golden Sunrise as seen driving from Osoyoos, BC
Golden Sunrise, Osoyoos, BC

"In this acrylic, textured painting I tried to capture the golden essence of the actual sunrise we were so fortunate to witness. As in so many of my paintings, they look better "in person" than on the internet."

The dimensions are 18" x 24" and this framed painting is for sale.(All paintings include the photograph, mounted and framed, from which it was derived.)
Small photo of painting of a stormy silhouette on a Tofino beach.
Winter Storm Watching, Tofino, BC

"This is my very first painting and the only other one I have ever done on an untextured painting surface. It still remains a favourite and constantly surprises me considering how little I knew when I painted it."

This painting is not for sale.
Small photo of painting of Lake Kalamalka in BC
Shades of Blue, Kalamaka Lake, Vernon, BC

"This was the first painting I did with the colour blue in it. Up until then, I had been painting three different beach scenes from Tofino, all during the winter storm season. I really tried to capture the texture of the bark in contrast to the aqua-blue water and deep blue sky."

The dimensions are 16" x 20" and this framed painting is for sale.(All paintings include the photograph, mounted and framed, from which it was derived.)
Small photo of painting of Rocky Steps on a beach in Tofino, BC
Rocky Steps, Tofino, BC

"This is my second painting and my first real attempt at using texture. I really enjoyed adding pumice and fibre to the acrylic to achieve the rough texture I saw in the photograph. I want my art to be "touchable" and adding the texture seems to make it so."

The dimensions are 14" x 18" and this framed painting is for sale.(All paintings include the photograph, mounted and framed, from which it was derived.)
Small photograph of painting of Burnaby Lake taken in 2006
Burnaby Lake 2006, Burnaby , BC

"I just felt a need to paint this scene recently. Since discovering texturing techniques, I of course had to use them in this painting and using "artistic licence", I omitted the rail fence seen in the photograph that it came from."

The dimensions are 36" x24" and this framed painting is for sale.(All paintings include the photograph, mounted and framed, from which it was derived.)
